Former Tiger Leads Lithuanian National Basketball Team

August 12, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Former Missouri Tiger Linas Kleiza has found his name in the headlines once again. The Lithuanian international and current Denver Nugget stand out led his team to a thrilling 79-74 upset over Argentina.

Kleiza knocked down a 3-pointer with 19 seconds remaining in the game to push his squad over the Argentineans whose roster boasts five NBA players, including former all star Manu Ginobili.

"It definitely felt good when it came out," Kleiza says about his game winning shot.

Kleiza, and the rest of the Lithuanian squad, handedly won their match up with Iran on Monday and continue their medal quest on Thursday against the Russians.

In both of Lithuania’s contests, Kleiza has lead the team in scoring, averaging 17.5 points a game from the bench.
