Campaign finance limits for Missouri’s political offices are still in effect, but not for much longer.

The end of the primary elections launched the start of a new election cycle. And, legislation passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) takes effect August 28th.

Senate Bill 1038 lifts limits on the amount of money that may be contributed to campaigns for any statewide or legislative offices at the state level. Bob Connor, former Executive Director of the Missouri Ethics Commission and currently an advisor to the Commission, says contribution limits will soon be history.

Officially, existing limits remain in effect for another three weeks. But, for all intents and purposes, there will be no limits affecting any of the November election contests.
