Royals go long ball again, as Meche wins third straight

July 30, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

For the second game in a row the Royals use the long ball to beat the A’s, winning 5-2 in the second game of the series and Gil Meche won his third straight game.

Mike Aviles broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run in the 6 th and then John Buck added some insurance with a three run shot in the 7 th .  Both home runs were the sixth on the year for Aviles and Buck.

The long balls backed Gil Meche who pitched seven innings, allowed two runs and struck out eight to move to 9-9 on the year.  Meche has won his last three starts and has allowed just three runs in those wins.  Joakim Soria, save 29.
