Inspectors find unsanitary conditions in Columbia funeral home

July 25, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The Attorney General’s Office has taken action to shut down a Columbia funeral home after recent state inspections found what would be considered irregularities for funeral homes.

Bodies had been stored without refrigeration or embalming for more than 24 hours – in one case, for more than 10 months. In addition inspectors found soiled caskets that had been reused, a filthy embalming room, and other unsanitary conditions.

The AG’s Office is asking the Boone County Circuit Court to prohibit the Warren Funeral Chapel from engaging in funeral directing or embalming as a result of the violations that were found.
