Kenny Rogers of the Tigers beat the Royals for the first time in three tries this year the Royals couldn’t overcome Rogers or a two hour and twenty minute rain delay and lose 7-1.

The Tigers broke through with a three run fifth inning as manager Trey Hillman needed to go to his bullpen in that inning after starter Kyle Davies could only make it through four innings.  He allowed just two runs, but threw 96 pitches and ran out of gas.

As far as Rogers, the only guy he had problems with was Mark Grudzielanek who went 3 for 4 and drove in Mike Aviles who doubled in the first.  Grudzielanek is 15 of 23, batting .652 for his career against Rogers.  Aviles who doubled, extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Hillman and Davies talk about his outing and Tigers manager Jim Leyland talks about the Gambler’s night while Rogers tips his cap to Grudzielanek.
