Prosecutors have filed child endangerment charges against a Branson mom.

Over the weekend, visitors to Silver Dollar City noticed an eight-month-old girl in the back of a hot van.

Sheriff Richard Hill said the mother, Bonnie Garrigus , left the van doors unlocked and the keys inside. He said a Silver Dollar City employee got into the van, started it and turned on the air conditioning to cool the baby down.

Hill said Garrigus told deputies she was there to pick up another daughter at the park and forgot the baby was in the backseat.  Hill says this could have quickly turned deadly with a heat index around 90 that day.

"Parents need to be parents and be aware when their children are with them and how to take care of them and we just felt this was the proper charge to present to the prosecutor and he agreed with us," Hill said.
