Police are at the scene of a standoff with a gunman at a home in Maplewood in St. Louis County. The trouble began when firefighters responded to a car fire at a home. Firefighters and police officers were fired upon as they arrived at the scene.

One firefighter, 22-year-old Ryan Hummert, was shot and killed. Two police officers have been wounded – one critically and the other with a gunshot to the right shoulder. It all began shortly before six o’clock this morning.

The building in which the gunman is believed to be holed up is reportedly on fire.
