Cards prevail in a wild one

July 19, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Neither Cardinals starter Braden Looper or future hall of famer Greg Maddux pitched well and both were non-factors by the time the Cardinals pulled out an 11-7 win over the San Diego Padres.

Braden Looper lasted just three innings allowing six runs including two home runs, but the Cardinal bats got to Maddux chasing him after four innings and tagging him with six runs.  With the game tied at 7 in the 8 th , Yadier Molina singled in two runs and the Cards added two more for four run inning eighth inning after tying the game in the bottom of the 7th.

Ryan Ludwick and Rick Ankiel each hit their 22 nd home runs of the year and drove in three runs apiece.

Tony LaRussa and Braden Looper talks about his tough night and Ludwick says it’s cool to hit a homer against someone he looked up to growing up.
