The Springfield police department fired an officer caught on tape screaming and hitting an inmate on the head.

Morris Taylor, 33, now also faces criminal charges. Greene County Prosecutor, Darrell Moore said there is no excuse for Taylor to be hitting the inmate who was not resisting and what bothers him even more than the beating is that none of the four officers who saw the assault said anything while it happened.

"One of my concerns as I relayed to the sheriff, is why when an officer asks for a special cell to take someone is that granted and then why in the middle of all this beating isn’t there immediate intervention," he said.

Taylor is facing third degree assault charges.
