Carpenter to make rehab start in Springfield

July 18, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Chris Carpenter Former Cardinals Cy Young award winning pitcher Chris Carpenter makes his first rehab start of the year this Sunday at Springfield when the AA affiliate Cardinals takes on Northwest Arkansas.  It will be Carpenter’s first start since the first game of the 2007 season.

Carpenter underwent Tommy John surgery last year and has been throwing bullpen sessions and has felt no effects from the surgery.  If all goes well, the plan is to have Carpenter spend a month on the rehab trail, before possibly joining the major league Cardinals within the next 30 days.

Interested in going to the game?  Mike Linskog of the Springfield Cardinals offers some tips on getting tickets.
