24th Annual Show-Me State Games Begin

Major General The Show-Me State Games kicked off today in Jefferson City. Members of the Missouri National Guard Marathon team began the 26 mile torch run to Columbia, from the steps of the state capitol. Opening ceremonies will conclude today on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia. Miss Missouri Lacey Fitzgerald and Mizzou quarterback Chase Daniel will be the special guests of the ceremonies.

The Show-Me State Games are currently the largest state games with participants coming from 13 states. Over 26,000 athletes are expected to compete in this year’s games. This year marks the 24 th year of the event. Competitions will be held on July 18 through 20, 25 through 27, and August 1 through 3 in and around Columbia.
