The Royals grabbed the final game of their series with the Rays winning 7-4 in 10 innings.  A bit of irony, one day after learning he made the all-star roster, Joakim Soria blew a save giving up a home run to Carlos Pena in the bottom of the 9 th

In the 10 th , the Royals Billy Butler reached on an error and the Rays walked Ross Gload to get to John Buck who hit a three run homer off the left field fair pole off of Dan Wheeler.  Mike Aviles then followed with a home run.  Soria gave up another solo homer in the 10 th , but held on for the win.

David DeJesus  then tripled in two runs in the second to get the Royals back in the game after Gil Meche gave up two runs in the first inning.  The Royals added another run in the third and Meche was in line to get the win after going 5.1.

Ron Mahay pitched two more scoreless innings of relief while striking out four.  There have been rumors that the Royals will trade Mahay to a contender, but Hillman has insisted Mahay signed a two year agreement and will be around with this team.

The Royals head home to take on the White Sox for three games  beginning Tuesday.
