DeJesus homers in return, Royals lose

July 3, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

David DeJesus returned to the lineup after suffering bruised ribs and  led the game off with a home run, but the Royals’ offense only came up with six more hits after that as the Orioles beat the Royals 5-2.  Daniel Cabrera has never lost to the Royals.

Back to DeJesus, who didn’t miss a beat since leaving Sunday’s game in the third inning by finishing 3 for 4 on the night. Starter Gil Meche took the loss allowing five earned runs.  This is his first loss in five starts following three straight wins and a no-decision.  His last lost was on June 5 th .

Daniel Cabrera likes pitching against the Royals.  The Orioles pitcher has never lost to them and he beat them for the fifth time.  In Cabrera’s eight career starts against the Royals, the Orioles stand at 8-0. Earlier this year, on May 8 th  at Kaufmann, he beat them, 4-1, on a complete-game three-hitter.
