Mitchell Boggs pitched the best game of his young major league career so far striking out six in six plus innings and allowing just one run on four hits as the Cardinals snap the Royals winning streak of six with a 5-1 win at Kauffman Stadium.

It didn’t look good early for Boggs, walking three in the first two innings, getting a double play in the first and wiggling out of a jam with two men on in the second.  After a lead off single in the third, Boggs struck out the side and from that point on was tough.

The Royals defense helped out Boggs (3-0) as well as errors led to two Cardinal runs, but Rick Ankiel opened up a 4-0 lead hitting his 15 th homer of the year off Royals’ starter Kyle Davies (3-1).
