Water is pouring through a breach in the Pin Oak Levee at Winfield, the last levee that had not broken in Lincoln County.

The warning sirens in the nearby community of Winfield went off about six o-clock this morning, just after the breach opened in the southeast corner of the levee. Police have gone door to door, telling residents to move out because water is on its way.

Winfield is a town of about 100 homes about 45 miles north and west of St.Louis.

Sandbagging of the levee was stopped yesterday because the town ran out of sand for more sandbags. Officials had planned to resume their work tomorrow.
