Tigers beat Cardinals in last at-bat

June 26, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Following a two hour and twenty five minute rain delay, the Cardinals lost 8-7 to Detroit. The Cards got on top early with  Skip Schumaker and Rick Ankiel homers in the first inning of Tiger starter Armando Galarraga.

Ankiel would add another blast in the 5 th before the rains came.  When play resumed, with the game tied at five, The Cards scored single runs in the 7 th and 8 th , only to have the Tigers answer with a run in each of those innings as well.

The bullpen of Anthony Flores, Jason Isringhause, and Kyle McClellan again were unable to hold those lead.  With the game tied in the bottom of the 9 th , Gary Sheffield singled in the winning run.

More rain in the forecast for this afternoon’s 12:05  game.  Expect to see Albert Pujols back in the lineup today.
