Levee in St. Charles County breaks

June 24, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

A levee in north St. Charles County broke early this morning. Volunteers and Missouri National Guard members who had been trying to keep the levee together have been evacuated.

A flash flood warning was issued to people living and working in that area. The National Weather Service says there’s no immediate threat to life but about 300 mobile homes in which about 700 people live are in the path of the flood waters.  An emergency shelter has been set up in St. Charles.
