Governor Blunt Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) has visited some of the flood-stricken areas of northeast Missouri, touting Hannibal and Canton. The region has been hit hard by the rising Mississippi River. During his visit, Blunt praised volunteers as well as local, state, and federal officials for their quick actions in getting supplies and resources to those who need assistance.

Earlier in the day the Governor visited the State Emergency Operations Center in Jefferson City to meet with department and agency leaders involved in coordinating flood relief efforts. Blunt told reporters that about 700 members of the Missouri National Guard are involved in sandbagging and other relief efforts.
