The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ended up second in Division II men’s basketball attendance average for the 2007-08 season.

The MIAA drew 231,767 fans to its 10 institutions’ 139 home games last season for an average of 1,667 fans per game. The average trails only the seven-team North Central Conference’s average of 1,946.

The MIAA once again drew the most fans of any Division II conference with 231,767. Only three conferences — the MIAA, the seven-team North Central Conference (204,328) and the 14-team Great Lakes Valley Conference (200,547) cracked 200,000 in total attendance last season.

Leading the MIAA contingent was Central Missouri. The Mules drew 39,766 fans in 15 home games in 2007-08 — an average of 2,651 fans — to rank sixth overall. UCM led the division in attendance last season.

Three Missouri MIAA schools were ranked in the top 30.  Missouri Western came in 17th with a mark of 1,833 per game for 14 home dates, and Missouri Southern was 30th with an average of 1,378 fans for 14 home dates.

The MIAA had better average attendance figures than three Division I conferences and better total attendance than eight conferences at that level.
