Rams head coach Scott Linehan said the team wrapped up their voluntary spring practices on a positive note and Linehan is hoping to erase the bad memories of last year’s 4-12 season.
Scott Linehan said this year’s participation of the spring’s OTA (organized team activities) has had the highest turnout in the three year’s he’s been the head coach of this team.
Linehan also said it’s important the players keep working out from now until training camp opens up July 24 th in Mequon, WI on the Concordia University campus.
One player trying to get caught up to speed and found this recent series of OTA’s beneficial was Brad Gradkowski who will be the 4 th quarterback in camp this year. He came to the Rams after getting released by Tampa Bay where they had a log jam of six quarterbacks.
He’s got a completely new playbook and offensive philosophy to learn as the Rams and Bucs run completely different systems. Gradkowski will compete with Brock Berlin for the third QB spot behind Trent Green and starter Marc Bulger.
A couple of the Rams draft picks agreed to terms. Tackle John Greco, a third-round pick out of Toledo, and guard Roy Schuening, a fifth-rounder from Oregon State, have signed three-year contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cornerback Fakhir Brown, running back Steven Jackson and linebacker Will Witherspoon didn’t participate in Thursday’s voluntary practice because of family obligations. Wide receiver Torry Holt also was absent.
