Gil Meche’s struggles continued as the Royals dropped their third straight. The right-hander allowed five runs, four earned, in 5 2/3 innings for his four consecutive winless starts. David DeJesus extended his hit streak to nine games with a triple in the fifth inning as the White Sox beat the Royals 6-2.

The Royals got beat by small ball.  Jim Thome singled in the second, and Joey Gathright threw out Paul Konerko at third.  With one, Meche gave up a double, single and a walk to load the bases.  OF Pablo Ozuna hit a comebacker to Meche who couldn’t handle the ball and had to settle for an out at first instead of potential home to first double play. After that, Orlando Cabrera singled in two more runs and a one run inning turned into a crooked four spot in the second.

Meche is now 3-8 on the year.  Mark Teahen homered for the third game in a row.  Jim Thome went deep for the Sox in the seventh; it was their 8 th home run against the Royals.

The Royals have lost 15 of their last 17 games, and eleven straight road games.  The Royals record for consecutive road losses is twelve set in 1997 and 2006.
