Blunt calls for consolidation of Eckersley lawsuit

June 5, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) wants the lawsuit filed against him by former staff attorney Scott Eckersley to be consolidated in Cole County.

Blunt and the other defendants in the lawsuit have filed papers with the State Supreme Court, asking that the lawsuit spread over four counties be heard only in one – in Jefferson City. A judge in Kansas City moved the wrongful termination case to Cole County, but has allowed the defamation lawsuit filed by Eckersley to be heard in Cole, Ozark, and Jackson Counties as well as St. Louis Circuit Court because reporters in various locations read allegedly defaming material.
