About 15 water patrol divers and other officers are searching for a nine-year old Eureka boy missing after a helicopter crash at the Lake of the Ozarks.

A state water patrol spokesman says sides can sonar is being used to search the area around the wreckage, which is in about forty feet of water. He says it’s possible Zachary T. West is inside the wreckage. If his body cannot be found by searchers, the wreckage will be raised.

The helicopter crashed while approaching landing at a private residence. The pilot, another adult, and two other children reached safety. The water patrol says the pilot thinks the tail rotor failed, pitching the helicopter onto its side and into the lake.

The Federal Aviation Administration expects its investigators to be on-scene tomorrow.
