Kyle Lohse pitched 6 shutout innings and the St. Louis bullpen followed suit as the Cardinals blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 Saturday night at Dodger Stadium.

Lohse (4-2), the winning pitcher, allowed 6 hits and struck out 5 batters. It wasn’t that LA starter and losing pitcher Brad Penny (5-5) pitched poorly. He gave up only 4 hits and struck out 5 Redbirds in 7 innings.

The Cardinals (30-21) have now won 3 in a row. They’ll face the Dodgers (25-23) again Sunday afternoon. Todd Wellemeyer (5-1) goes to the mound for St. Louis against LA’s Clayton Kershaw (0-0), who will be making his Major League debut.
