Royals bats sluggish again in loss to O’s

May 11, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals bats continued to struggle and come up with big hits as the Royals lose a rain delayed game with Baltimore 6-5.

Brett Tomko fought through a rain delay and left during the sixth inning with his team trailing 5-1. But the Royals started hitting in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3. The Royals even had the tying run on first when Tony Pena swung at the first pitch and bounced back to the mound to end the inning.

In the seventh, the Royals had runners on first and third with no outs. Cleanup hitter Billy Butler struck out. No. 5 hitter Mark Grudzielanek was then called out on strikes. And finally, former cleanup hitter Jose Guillen grounded out meekly to second, allowing the Orioles to escape with a 6-4 lead.

Brian Bannister looks to end his personal four game losing streak in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
