Parts of Missouri are dealing with the devastation from severe weather that has blasted parts of the state this morning. The hardest hit areas appear to be the Kansas City region and Ava in southwest Missouri, where it is believed tornadoes have touched down.

Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) is keeping a close watch on developments. He can’t confirm that tornadoes hit, but says the damage would indicate that’s what happened.

There are no fatalities reported, but there are four confirmed injuries in the Kansas City area, where strong winds have destroyed about a half dozen homes and have damaged about 200 other buildings. Blunt says SEMA – the State Emergency Management Agency – is standing by to provide aid if and when it is requested.
