The home run ball continued to kill the Royals this afternoon. Ian Kinsler and Ramon Vazquez each hit solo home runs against Zack Greinke as the Rangers won 2-1 to take the series, two games to one.

That made 13 straight runs the Rangers had scored thanks to the long ball. All of their scoring in Wednesday night’s 11-9 victory over the Royals was produced by five homers.

Rangers right-hander Sidney Ponson gave up one run in the third on Mark Grudzielanek’s RBI single. Ponson went eight innings before giving way to closer C.J. Wilson who picked up the save.

Greinke pitched seven innings, and outside of the two home runs, gave up just two singles. He struck out nine and didn’t walk anybody.  Kinsler led off the Texas first inning with his second homer of the season. Vazquez hit his first dinger with one out in the sixth.

The Royals are off to Cleveland.
