Meche better, but Royals lose

April 27, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Gil Meche bounced back from his last outing by going 6 2/3 innings, but still lost as his record drops to 1-4.  The offense didn’t muster up much against Blue Jays pitching, scoring runs on RBI singles by David DeJesus.

Scott Rolen, who was acquired from the Cardinals in a trade for Troy Glaus, hit his first home run as a Blue Jay in the first inning off of Gil Meche with one on and one out.  Rolen’s first with Toronto comes on the same day that Glaus hit his first with St. Louis.

The score was 3-2 heading into the 9th when Toronto got two insurance runs.  The Royals only managed one earned run on five hits and a walk off Jays starter Jesse Litsch who went seven innings for the win.
