The Chiefs trade with Detroit for their pick at 15th.  They addressed their offensive line needs by taking Branden Albert, an offensive guard from Virginia.  The Chiefs also get Detroit’s 3rd round pick at 66th.

In exchange, the Lions will get the Chiefs pick at 17th, whom the Chiefs got in the Allen trade with Minnesota.  The Chiefs will get the Lions’ 3rd round pick at 76.

Once Denver took Ryan Clady of Boise State, Albert became the next obvious choice.  The Chiefs grab an offensive lineman at 15, and now will have the 17th selection as well.

Here is what NFL.com is saying about Albert.  A former standout basketball player, Branden Albert did not wear a football uniform until his junior year in high school. Just a few years later, he left Virginia after starting all 37 games in which he played for the Cavaliers. With a blend of athletic ability, size and strength at the point of attack, he quickly developed into one of the elite offensive guards in college football.
