The Cardinals scored four runs in the first inning and that was it for the offense as the Pirates came back to snap a six game losing streak and win 7-4.

Six of the first seven Cardinals reached base against Pirates starter Ian Snell as Troy Glaus doubled in two and Adam Kennedy singled in two, to give the Cards a 4-0 first inning league.

Starter Todd Wellemeyer could not hold the lead giving up four runs over six innings including a two run homer by Jason Bay to tie the game at four.

In the 8 th , Anthony Reyes botched a double play ball hit to him that would have been two out with nobody on.  Instead the Pirates make him pay for the mistake by scoring three in the 8 th to give Reyes his first loss.

The Cardinals fall 2.5 game behind Chicago who won their 10,000 th game in their history becoming just the second team ever to reach that milestone.
