Bannister goes the distance in Royals’ win

April 13, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

After giving up a run in the first inning, Brian Bannister went into cruise control as the Royals snap a three game losing streaking winning the series finales over the Twins 5-1.  Bannister, now 3-0 on the season, his ERA is 0.86.

The Twins only run came in the first.  With two outs, Brendan Harris reached second on an error by Jose Guillen.  A single by Justin Morneau brought Harris in and that was the only run which of course went unearned.

From there, Bannister went 8 more innings allowing just two more hits and a walk while striking out three.  Bannister says he’s a streaky pitcher and trying to keep in all in perspective.

Alex Gordon went 2 for 3 and hit his third home run on the year.  He also scored three times.

The Royals are in Seattle tomorrow night to open a three team, seven game road trip out west.  Zach Greinke, 2-0 with a .60 ERA will get the series started.
