Michael Schmid, Governor Matt Blunt’s nominee to fill a vacancy on the Missouri Ethics Commission, has withdrawn his name from consideration. Schmid was appointed as a Democrat, but had run into opposition from Democrats who challenged his party affiliation.

The Ethics Commission, like many state commissions and boards, limits the number of members from one party who can sit on the panel at a given time. Schmid is a Jefferson City attorney and a law partner of the Governor’s brother Andy Blunt.
