Rams announce preseason schedule

April 3, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The St. Louis Rams’ 2008 preseason opponents, featuring four teams from the AFC, have been set.

The Rams will open the preseason on the road at the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 (Aug. 7-11).  The Rams and Titans have met nine times in the preseason, most recently in 2002 at Tennessee.  Six of the previous contests occurred when the Titans were located in Houston as the Oilers.

In Week 2 (Aug. 14-18), the Rams will host the San Diego Chargers in a rematch of last year’s preseason game at the Edward Jones Dome.  The Rams and Chargers have played 35 preseason contests, with the Chargers holding an 18-17 advantage in the preseason series.

The Rams host their final preseason home game in Week 3 (Aug. 21-25) against Baltimore and first-year head coach John Harbaugh.  The matchup will be the first between the two teams in the preseason.  The Rams and Ravens have faced off four times in the regular season with the series tied at two.

The Rams will finish the preseason slate in Week 4 (Aug. 28-29) as the team travels across the state of Missouri to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the annual Governors’ Cup matchup.  The Rams will look to defend the Governor’s Cup after the team’s 10-3 victory in the 2007 preseason.  The Rams own an 11-7 edge in the preseason series with the Chiefs.

Dates for each contest will be announced later.
