Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) has been traveling the state promoting his plan for a tax holiday for environmentally-friendly products. The proposal would eliminate state sales taxes for one week on Energy Star products which are more energy efficient, better for the environment, and will save consumers money over the long haul. Blunt says the tax break will encourage the purchase of these products.

Under the Show-Me Green Tax Holiday, Missouri would become only the fourth state in the country to enact this kind of environmentally-friendly tax holiday. It would be similar to the back to school sales tax holiday Missouri has each August.

The proposal, included in HB 2250 and SB 964 , would take effect in June in time for Missourians to purchase the products with their federal economic stimulus checks.
