Assistant Coach Steve Woodberry and Director of Basketball Operations Trevyor Fisher will retain those positions on the men’s basketball staff of new Bears’ head coach Cuonzo Martin. Martin made the announcement Tuesday in his first day on the job at Hammons Student Center. The contracts of both Woodberry and Fisher will be renewed at the end of June.

Martin hopes to fill the two remaining positions on his staff soon. His first day at Missouri State also included his initial meeting with the nine players scheduled to return for the Bears’ 2008-09 roster.

Woodberry has been on the Missouri State staff for the past two seasons as a bench coach and recruiter and will continue to have those duties. A native of Wichita, Kan., and a 1994 graduate of the University of Kansas, Woodberry joined the Missouri State staff in 2006, a year following his retirement from a professional basketball career.

Fisher has been in his post for three years and will continue to oversee the Bears’ film exchange, team travel and a number of other administrative aspects to the program. A Springfield native and 2005 graduate of Missouri State, he was a four-year Bears’ basketball letterman before joining the staff in 2005.
