The proposal to have the approximately 800 superdelegates to the Democratic National Convention hold a mini-convention to choose between Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) and Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) as the party’s presidential nominee gets a mixed reaction from Senator Claire McCaskill – one of the Missouri’s superdelegates.

McCaskill says money that would be spent to hold a mini-convention in South Dakota and Montana could be better spent on campaigning against the Republicans and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Senator John McCain (R-AZ). But she would like the uncommitted superdelegates to show their colors by the end of hte primary season in June.

It appears as though neither of the two candidates will have the required number of delegates once all the pledged delegates have been won … so the superdelegates will likely decide who represents the party in November. McCaskill wants the approximately 300 superdelegates who have not announced their preferences to weigh-in once the primary season is over.
