Unemployment help coming for some flooded Missourians

April 1, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The state labor department says people who have lost their jobs in 19 counties because of severe storms and floods might be eligible for disaster unemployment help.

The money would be for people not eligible for benefits under the state’s regular unemployment insurance program. That would include farmers, those who are self-employed, or others who can’t get the regular coverage. Claims have to be filed by the end of the month.

Counties involved:

Bollinger, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Greene, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Maries, Newton, Oregon, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, St. Francois, Stone, Texas, Washington, and Wayne.

Those wanting to file claims should call 800-788-4002.
