Royals dumped by Brewers in final spring warm-up

March 29, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The Kansas City Royals hammered out 10 hits, but could only push 2 runs across the plate, as they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Milwaukee Brewers in the final Spring Training game for both teams Saturday afternoon at Miller Park.

Catcher Miguel Olivo went 3 for 3 for the Royals while David DeJesus hit his only home run of the spring. Starter Zack Greinke pitched 6 strong innings, allowing only 1 earned run on 7 hits.

The Royals now move onto the Motor City where they’ll open the American League season on Monday when they play the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Gil Meche takes the mound for KC against Detroit’s Justin Verlander. Game time is 12:05 Central Time.
