National Spelling Bee reverses decision on Missouri girl’s eligibility

March 26, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The National Spelling Bee has decided a Missouri girl can take part after all. Director Paige Kimble has reversed herself from statements in which she said 12-year-old Morgan Brown could not take part because her school district messed up some paperwork.

The girl won the northwest Missouri regional competition earlier this month. Kimble says she has changed her mind after a thorough review of the situation.

The sponsoring organization, E.W. Scripps Company, also had gotten a lot of pressure from the public, the media and Morgan’s parents.
