Cuonzo Martin, Associate Head Coach at Purdue University, will be in Springfield and on the Missouri State University campus today and tomorrow to interview for the Bears basketball coaching position.
The 36 year old Martin is a native of East St. Louis, Ill., and was a star player at Purdue from 1991-95 for Coach Gene Keady. He then played four years professionally in the NBA, CBA and Europe.
He has been on the coaching staff at Purdue for the past eight years, first under Keady and now Matt Painter. He was promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach in September of 2007. On Saturday, Purdue was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament in the second round by Xavier, 85-78.
