Chiefs D-coordinator Gunther Cunningham In a move to get Chiefs defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham more involved with the players, he has been named linebackers coach as well as retaining his DC position.  Among many of the position areas where the Chiefs need help, linebacker is at the top of the list.

Cunningham will replace Don Blackmon who held the position last year.  Linebacker was a position where the Chiefs struggled.  They were disappointed in the play of middle linebacker Napoleon Harris and are concerned this year with aging Donnie Edwards who turns 35 in April.

This is nothing new for Cunningham who coached linebackers when he was the defensive coordinator in 1997, plus he’s been a linebacker coach for Oakland and Tennessee.

Former Chiefs center Casey Weigmann signed a two year deal with AFC West divison rival Denver.
