Barton, Rasmus battle for last outfield spot

March 17, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

There is a battle in the Cardinals outfield for five spots on the roster.  Chris Duncan, who has been bothered by a bad back and is hitting less an .100 is a lock along with Rick Ankiel who has been hitting .372.  From there you have Skip Schumaker who manager Tony LaRussa said would have to play his way off of the 25 man roster.  Ryan Ludwick is hitting .308, you would expect him to have the 4 th spot and with veteran Juan Gonzalez battling an abdominal strain, it looks like his comeback is coming to an end.  So it comes down to Brian Barton and Colby Rasmus.
