Senate Leader Optimistic as Legislative Spring Break Approaches

March 9, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

This is the final week of legislative activity before state lawmakers go home for their annual Spring Break. And, Senate Majority Floor Leader Charlie Shields (R-St. Joseph) thinks the naysayers who didn’t think much would be accomplished in an election year are being proven wrong.

Shields says he’s pleased with the way in which things are moving, with the Senate operating in a bipartisan manner. There are a few things, however, that he would like to complete work on before the break.

Shields does not believe anything fits into the “must do before Spring Break” category, adding the break is really an artificial half way point in the session. He points out, however, that it is a week in which nothing will be accomplished at the Capitol because lawmakers will not be meeting.
