Royals ace Gil Meche and Hideo Nomo fighting to make a comeback both pitched strong against the San Francisco Giants during the Royals 3-1 win.  Both pitchers combined for six shutout innings.

Meche got the start and allowed just two hits in his three innings of work.  Then it was Nomo’s turn and he too went three innings, allowing just three hits, a walk, and getting three strikeouts.

Ryan Shealy homered off Giants starter Barry Zito in the third and the Royals added runs in the 4th and 7th.  The Giants got their lone run off of Jimmy Gobble who worked the 8th.
