Tyler Johnson Tyler Johnson can breathe a sigh of relief.  He got the results of his MRI today and it revealed he has a strained rotator cuff and tendonitis.  Johnson is expected to be kept off the mound for about a week.

Johnson complained of having a weak arm as he warmed up for Saturday’s game.  The lefty had been throwing the ball well according to Cardinal’s pitching coach Dave Duncan, but may have just over done it a little too much this early in spring. Johnson may play some long toss while he’s off the mound waiting for his shoulder to quiet down a bit.

This is also good news for Tony LaRussa.  Johnson was pretty dependable last year coming out of the bullpen in 55 games and outside of Johnson, LaRussa only has Randy Flores on the major league roster as the other left handed pitcher.
