Jackson Remaining in GOP Race for Lieutenant Governor

February 9, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder’s decision to withdraw from the race for Governor and run for reelection puts former State Representative Jack Jackson in a bit of a bind. Shortly after Kinder announced he would run for Governor, Jackson announced his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor.

Jackson was caught flat footed when Kinder unveiled his surprise to Republicans gathered, in Springfield, for the party’s annual Lincoln Days weekend. Jackson says as far as he’s concerned he is in the race for Lieutenant Governor and must now face a primary opponent.

While he doesn’t expect to pull out, Jackson appears to be leaving open the door to reconsidering his options. But for now, he’s in it.
