Many Fenton Chrysler Workers Taking Buyout Offer

The United Auto Workers’ union says about 650 employees at the Chrysler plants in Fenton are taking the company buyout proposal. A spokesman says the workers get the same deal that workers in Detroit are getting.

Chrysler has offered a $70,000 lump sum payment and pension benefits for those who have been with the company long enough and are old enough.

Chrsyler laid off about 1,100 workers at its plant that makes minivans last month.
