Thousands Turn Out for Obama Event in KC

January 30, 2008 By admin

The third of three visits to Missouri on Tuesday by presidential wannabees takes place in Kansas City as Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama (D-IL) spoke to a crowd of about 6,000 supporters at Municipal Auditorium.

Earlier, fellow Democrat John Edwards (D-NC), who is now getting out of the race, appeared at a rally in Jefferson City.  At the same time, Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee (D-AR) appeared at an event in Missouri’s capital city before heading to St. Louis for a fundraiser and another public event.

Obama, who was flanked by Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) touched on many of the themes that have highlighted his campaign.  He then took on what he calls an underground campaign being waged against him on the Internet – claims that he is a “wild Muslim” who doesn’t pledge allegiance to the flag.

Obama and Hillary Clinton (D-NY) are in a close race heading into Missouri’s February 5th Presidential Primary.
