Bond Calls on Congress to Pass Long-term Terrorist Surveillance Legislation

January 30, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Senator Kit Bond (R-MO) is calling on the House and Senate in Washington to get serious about national security. Congress has approved an agreement, on Tuesday, to extend the Protect America Act for fifteen days. But he says terrorist surveillance is an important tool and early warning system to prevent attacks … and we cannot be lax with national security.

Bond says a critical lesson of September 11th is that our intelligence proved inadequate to stop the mass murder of Americans on our own soil. He wants lawsuit protection for telecommunication companies that help the federal government to conduct surveillance.

Opponents of the legislation fear some parts of the Act could jeopardize civil rights.
