Controversial Kansas City Park Board member Frances Semler has resigned after months of attacks because she belongs to the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. That’s a group known for fighting illegal immigration.
Mayor Mark Funkhouser’s refusal to ask for her resignation has cost the city two major conventions. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Hispanic group LaRaza have cancelled plans to meet in Kansas City.
